This Autumn/Winter my skin is feeling dull, lack lustre and generally under the weather in line with the current forecast of grey skies. The first of my three ride or die skin products for this time of year is the Renaissance Mask from Oskia, a 50ml creamy balm which is aimed at brightening and resurfacing the skin and is packed with papaya enzymes and natural fruit acids such as lemon, passion fruit, grape and pineapple.
Applying the pink mask to a dry and clean face you can massage into the skin until the product turns white, which activates the ingredients leaving a slight tingle on my skin that I find refreshing. I personally leave the mask on for 20 minutes but if you have sensitive skin I would suggest starting with 5-10 minutes and increase the time once you are confident with the product on your skin. I use this mask once a week on my “spa-sunday” where I round up all my spa like beauty faves and treat myself to a pampering session aimed at starting the upcoming week off on the right foot.
This product is £51 for 50ml from Space NK, which may seem a little on the pricey side but the ingredients include lactic acids, which actively reduce the appearance of fine lines by softening and hydrating the skin; AHA’s that renew the skin revealing brighter and an improved appearance of skin; Ribose, boosting the oxygen in the skin and Cress Liposomes, which reduce melanin production by a reported 47% therefore evening out the balance of the skin and creating a brighter natural glow.
The second skin necessity on my hit list is the cult product from Sunday Riley that has flown off the shelves since it was introduced back in 2015 and is her ingenious Good Genes Treatment – an all in one serum that can be used everyday under your regular skincare routine and/or makeup or used as a mask for an intense injection of beauty therapy perhaps once a week. You can purchase it from Space NK here for £85.00.
Packed full of skin revitalising ingredients, you will see lactic acids are the main component of this intense treatment combined with extracts of cactus, prickly pear and aloe leaf used to resurface and rejuvenate the skin leaving it transformed quite quickly whilst delivering long term results.
I can honestly testify that this little 30ml beauty has revived my dull and tired skin, my red patches are significantly reduced and my skin feels smoother and plumper after an intense mask treatment. I literally only use one pump so a little goes a long way and again you get a tingling sensation upon application, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea – but I like it!
It should be noted, that if you are using one product with lactic acids and AHA’s then you should steer clear of other products with similar ingredients on their list. Your skin is obviously delicate and putting more than one resurfacing/intense treatment on it in one day is not recommended. I would not use this treatment as a mask and use the Renaissance Mask on the same day for example.
Lastly, BECCA’s Backlight Priming Filter is my dull day go-to beauty perk and is first in line in my makeup arsenal for achieving a natural ethereal glow which I apply liberally all over my face over moisturiser. Each time I wear this I get complimented on the radiance of my skin and the pay off is such that you can definitely forego a highlighter, which can sometimes appear more ‘done’.
Whether you prefer more or less make up, this primer should be a consideration as your next purchase to achieving youthful and fresh faced skin this Autumn/Winter and can be purchased from Space NK for £32.00 here.
Hope this post helps if you’re in the market for new products to enhance your skin this season!
